Just some thoughts about perspectives on intelligence in Sherlock. I get the feeling this will be a long post, so I’m going to stick it under a Read More so I don’t inflict it on all of you. Still, I think it might be interesting, so….
yes, I can relate to this, but, um, do you know what else makes me angry?
People being like this:
boo hoo black woman so mean to pure white genius boo hoo
She is not the only one who is directly rude to Sherlock about him being a smartarse. But no, because everyone else who is vindictive towards him happens to be a white bloke, and because Sally Donovan is a WOC (and the only recurring POC entire the entire series), she is apparently the only one who is singularly objectionable out of the whole series. Just her.
as a “gifted” student I have serious problems with this mental/emotional intelligence dichotomy but can’t quite put my finger on it.
Also, your ‘gifted biologist’ kid sounds like bs, mostly because cells aren’t typically different enough from one organism to the next to be able to tell exactly what you’re looking at. You can say “oh, that’s a skin cell, a neuron,” etc, but not “oh, that’s a hyena’s skin cell”, because mammal skin cells look pretty much identical.
For instance:
below the jump are smooth aortic muscle cells from three different mammals.
bovine aortic smooth muscle cell

canine aortic smooth muscle cell

chicken aortic smooth muscle cell

These animals belong to three different genera, and it doesn’t matter which cells from these animals you pick - you can’t tell the animals apart with just pictures of their cells.
try no one will ever...level since there...gifted people....
and this^ is beautiful....ridiculously gifted...suppose I’m...
